Andrew commenced Iaido training in 2008 as one of their earliest students of Damon and Brendan at Kuroyama Budokai, where he is now an assistant instructor and leads classes in his own right.

​He has attended Australian Kendo Renmei Iaido Seminars from 2009.

Andrew commenced  Jodo training in 2008 as one of their earliest students of Damon and Brendan at Kuroyama Budokai where he is now an assistant instructor.

Andrew initially commenced training in Aikido at the Australian National University in 1990 while completing a BA degree in Asian Studies (Japanese).  On completion of the degree Andrew was successful in obtaining a place on the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET Program) and worked in the Regional Government Office in Suwa City in Nagano Prefecture for a period of three years. 

 

While living in Suwa Andrew established an Aikido Club in 2000 with interested local people in Chino City under the guidance of Shihan Seishiro Endo Sensei.  The club currently consists of several members that have obtained the rank of Sandan (3rd degree black belt) practicing Aikikai Aikido in the style of Endo Sensei.
