Instructor Cadre

At Kuroyama Budokai instruction is overseen by members with technical knowledge recognised through official grades awarded by Australian or International governing bodies for the relevant art(s):

Iaido practice is conducted by officially recognised instructors authorised and qualified by the Australian Kendo Renmei (AKR), the internationally recognised governing body for Kendo, Iaido and Jodo in Australia, and domestically recognised by the Australian Sports Commission as the National Sporting Organisation (NSO) to develop Kendo, Iaido and Jodo in Australia.  \

 

All instructors have travelled to Japan to train with various teachers, and are regular participants in national AKR seminars overviewed by high ranking delegates from Japan. All have received their gradings from the AKR or direct from the Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei (ZNKR) in Japan.​

Australian Kendo Renmei (AKR)

The AKR is

Jodo practice is conducted by officially recognised instructors authorised and qualified by the Australian Kendo Renmei (AKR).  All have travelled to Japan to train with various teachers, and are regular participants in national AKR seminars overviewed by high ranking delegates from Japan. All have received their gradings from the AKR or direct from the Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei (ZNKR) in Japan.

Kyudo practice is conducted by officially recognised instructors authorised and qualified by the Australian Kyudo Association (AKA).

Aikido practice (when offered) is conducted by instructors with a diversity of experience studying under a variety of teachers (and schools/styles) in both Australia and Japan.  They have chosen to remain non-secular in their approach to training, and instead focus individually on the inspiration they have found through key teachers during their training. Both have received their gradings from the Aikikai Hombu in Japan.

Naginata practice is conducted by officially recognised instructors authorised and qualified by the Australian Naginata Federation (ANF).

International Aikido Federation (IAF)

The IAF is a federation of aikido organisations which are directly affiliated to the Aikikai Hombu in Japan, the ‘mother house’ of Aikido. 

Australian Kyudo Association (AKA)

The AKA is an administrative body to support the club members of affiliated state associations through access to national seminars, examinations, and international events.

Australian Naginata Federation (ANF)

The Australian Naginata Federation Inc. (ANF) is the internationally recognised governing body for Naginata in Australia.
